Long time Corel Painter user here. I always get it from HumbleBundle.com when they offer it, and right now it’s available for the next 8 days. It’s usually a release or two behind but at such a ridiculous discount.

Corel Painter 2023 currently $22.07 for the 24-item bundle, or $30 for the full 26-item bundle.

Enjoy!

I don’t use corel painter, but I gotta say that that thar’s a pretty-looking panel (albeit of a downer event).

After Adobe moved to a subscription service, I'm always curious about what other art programs are out there!

Hannah Rose Williams's avatar

I think Corel is trying the same shenanigans. I bought a hard copy and registered it but now they're acting like it doesn't exist. :/

Have you tried their customer service? Some companies are still pretty decent with it. One of my programs was so old the serial number was apparently no longer in their database, they still honored it and I got the upgrade discount rather than needing to pay full price

There was a little customer complaint form that no one responded to lol. They just don't want to honor old copies.

You can still buy recent versions of many Corel products that you can download and install without recurring licensing fees, but you don't get updates. It's why I still keep a reasonably recent copy of CorelDRAW on hand.

I loved Corel Painter, but my disc disappeared during a move, and Corel absolutely does not let you replace an old version. So I had to go to Clip, which I could, you know, actually afford to buy.

Yeah, hitting a quarterly sale and getting the program for $30-45 is an unlooked for treat these days.

Hannah Rose Williams's avatar

I should try that someday!

As one Corel user to another, nicely done. Great tutorial on your method of building panels and pages.

Heyyyy a fellow Corel user! There are dozens of us!

Man of the Atom's avatar

At least dozens. Been a user since CorelDRAW 3, though I augment with Clip Studio Paint as well.

My church's youth worker once moved away and left behind Corel Photo Paint 8 and my life was forever changed forever

Also his Braveheart soundtrack on cassette tape

That is powerful Hand of God stuff right there, and no joking.

If you want a cheap -- as in "free" -- system to play with along side Corel, test out Krita. I'm working with it through PortableApps so the program doesn't install itself intractably on my system.

Krita is getting templates for comic pages and other tools added in gradually by developers or via other creators.

I've used Krita a bit, but my free time is precious right now and anything even slightly different from Corel makes me immediately furious haha
